JAMTA is an acronym for the "Japan Mobile Telecommunication-systems Association". Upon receiving authorization from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, our association was founded in March 1993. The goal of JAMTA is to contribute to the development of regional economies by promoting and installing land mobile telecommunication systems.
Our major activities include construction, maintenance and management of repeater control stations for mobile telecommunications. We organaize networks for the analog and digital JSMR systems and NEXNET system for which we also conduct research and provide consulting serviceis. Furthemore, we try to promote a better understanding and improvement of the administration of telecommunication laws and in aiding members interpretation and compliance with these regulations.
The establishment of JAMTA was wholly contributed by Nippon Motorola Ltd. (NML). Toshiaki Irie, the then Chairman of NML, submitted the application to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications in Februry 1993 for approval of estabishment of our association.

1993, March: Established. JAMTA acquired licenses for MCA repeater control stations.
1994, September: Started operation of the 1.5GHz digital wide area networking MCA(DJSMR) system service in the Kanto area.
1995, October: Started operation of the DJSMR system in the Kansai area.
1996, November: Started operation of the DJSMR system in the Tokai area.
1998, July: Started operation of NEXNET service with Integrated Digital Enhanced Network technology system in the Kanto area.
2002, April  Started super-wide area service of digital JSMR system integrated Kanto, Tokai and Kinki area.
2003, September: Operation of 197 land mobile repeater control stations and subscribers of about 150,000 stations.
